Height:
6'1" Debut:
November 2, 2002 The leader of Wrestling Incorporated (including Benjamin Smythe and Brandon Thurston) claims he is "wrestling personified." Cooper has studied Greco Roman and freestyle wrestling and has modified his mat skills to adapt to the pro style. Wrestled and lost to Mastiff in a high competitive best of three falls match at Mayhem 2003 in the first meeting between arguably ESW's best two technical wrestlers. Never able to get over that loss, it has haunted Cooper and he has been looking to get his win back from Mastiff ever since. While a technically sound wrestler, Cooper is among the most unpopular wrestlers ESW has seen. The fans love to hate Cooper and call him many names that can't be printed. In a March 2003 win over Ryan Hazard (R-Haz), Hazard came away with a hip injury that left him on the shelf for three months. In perhaps still his most monumental win to date, he defeated Tommy Caliber to win the ESW Interstate title at ESW Meltdown in August 2003. The next October, he defended the title and won in the first ever Belt at the Bar match by beating Cade Cassidy after Benjamin Smythe ran in from the crowd wearing a mask. It was during his long reign as ESW Interstate Champion that his "Hangin' With Mr. Cooper" interview segment became infamous in ESW. Cooper brought the ESW Interstate Title to new heights with title defenses against Cade Cassidy, Ryan Hazard and Lance Steel before his reign was ended by Shade at Reckoning Day 2004 in February. At Anarchy 2004 on April 17, 2004 he finally got his return shot at Mastiff -- and his first show at the ESW Heavyweight Title. Mastiff at the time, however, seemed unbeatable and could be beaten by Chris Cooper on that night. So disappointed in his failure to beat Mastiff again, Cooper immediately left active competition in order to improve himself in intensified training. Cooper returned six months later at WrestleBash in August, assisting proteges Brandon Thurston and Benjamin Smythe capture of the ESW Tag Team Title. Cooper finally returned to the ring at Hardcore Halloween 2004, not in a one-one-one match against Mastiff, but in a three-way including J-Man. The winner would be named number-one contender for Jonny Puma's ESW Heavyweight Title. The match ended when J-Man pinned Mastiff, leaving Cooper to cry that he was still the true number-one contender as he was never beaten. Cooper must have received some gratification at Pilgrims & Piledrivers 2004 when all three members of Wrestling Incorporated defeated Mastiff, Damien Alexander and Robin Knightwing as Cooper pinned Mastiff in the end. Cooper used the ropes for an inside cradle pinfall and now had the full attention of the former ESW Heavyweight Champion Mastiff. |
