Mastiff

Height: 5'10"

Weight: 201 lbs

Hailing From: Buffalo, New York

Debut: August 4, 2002

Finishing Manuevers: Crude Awakening (Fisherman Buster), Diving Headbutt, Sharpshooter.

One of the original members of Empire State Wrestling, he won the ESW Hardcore Title at ESW's inaugural show in August 2002.

After dropping out of the hardcore division, he focused his energies into training for a shot at heavyweight champion Puma. On his way to a title shot, he defeated Chris Cooper in a best-of-three falls match. In his first confrontation with Puma, he saved Crazy Cris Cavana from an attack from Puma and Ice, then locked Puma in a vicious katahajime choke at May-hem 2003. This led to the first ever match between Mastiff and Jonny Puma at Unsanctioned 2003 in June. Ice caused an intentional disqualification in that match, allowing Puma to keep the ESW Heavyweight Title.

Mastiff teamed with Lance Steel and Cavana to beat Puma, Ice, and Cooper in a six-man match in July 2003. After pinning Puma in that match, he earned a second shot at Puma. At Meltdown 2003 in August, he came within a hair's breadth of taking Puma's gold in a ladder match, but Puma came down with the belt.

Mastiff may be ESW's most popular competitor. A master of the suplex, Mastiff frequently uses the German, hanging vertical, snap, and fisherman buster variations.

At Hardcore Halloween 2003, he acheived what no wrestler in ESW could for nearly year: he defeated Jonny Puma to finally become ESW Heavyweight Champion. It was a night no one in the building will ever forget.

In the first half of his title reign, he defeated Danny Magic and Sakura on two separate occasions and Chris Cooper at Anarchy 2004. He followed that up with an epic defense and victory over "Completely" Cody Steele.

Puma and Mastiff renewed their historic feud, leading to a title match at ESW WrestleBash on August 21, 2004 -- little over one year after their brutal TLC match. Puma first lost the match at WrestleBash by disqualification. However, Mastiff took the microphone and demanded the fan see a conclusive end to the match and their feud. He demanded special referee Commissioner Dan Murphy, continue the match without disqualifications. Mastiff risked it all and missed a massive diving headbutt off the top of a ladder, allowing Puma to regain the championship in what many consider to be the greatest match in ESW history. After realizing his reign as champion had come to an end, Mastiff finally rose to his feet as the fans gave him a standing ovation, thanking him for a great run as champion.
